Iganga Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Kauma Sauda has urged the area youths to take lead in participating in government programs.
Speaking during the celebrations of the international youth day at Iganga High school, Hon kauma sauda revealed to the youth that government has injected a lot of funds into youth development fund hence the only thing left is for them to participate and elevate themselves from poverty and unemployment.
The international youth day was commemorated on the 12 .08.2021, but due to the some restrictions caused by Covid 19, Iganga district was then unable to take part hence postponement of the celebrations.
The Youths begun their day by visiting patients at Iganga main hospital where they donated a small package to teenage mothers and those with premature babies before converging at Iganga high school ground for the celebrations which run under the theme “transforming Food Systems, Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.”
Some of the challenges highlighted by the youth include: unemployment, Lack of Skilling centers at least at every Sub County and youth corners in the district
The basoga artists also used the opportunity to express dismay for not being involved in the Gulu arrangement to meet the head of Operation Wealth Creation Gen. Saleh so that they can also get heavy sacks of money as it is the case with the central region artists. They also added that they are in a terrible situation since they didn’t get the “Nabbanja” covid 19 relief package of UG SHS 100,000.
However, the area women member of parliament Hon. Kauma Sauda who has been the guest of honor responded by asserting that government in this financial year favored the youths by injecting a lot of funds in the programs that aim at developing them which include amongst others Emyooga, parish model, Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), operation wealth creation.
It’s on the above note that she urged the youths to utilize the opportunities as opposed to politicizing them and abandoning them.
In the same way, Dala sanon the chairman of Iganga district youth applauded government for the good work done in the health sector of Iganga district.
