Farmers urged to engage in commercial Agriculture as gov’t donates a tractor to Kapedo farmer group

It was joy and happiness as famers in Kapedo sub county, Karenga district received government donated tractor enhance farming in the area.

The tractor was handed to the best farming group in kapedo Sub County, Nataba Akolobo green farm by the minister for ethics and integrity who also doubles as Karenga woman mp Akello Roseline 

Minister Akello said that government through NAADS secretariat decided to reward Nataba Akoloba farmer’s group for the efforts put in production of enough supporting food to the district and Karamoja region as well.

Akello also strong belief that the donation will help in the fight against food insecurity in the district and the region as well.

The minister however, decried of the problem of wild animals which is the biggest challenge to the farmers hence calling for quick government intervention.

Unlike other districts in the Karamoja region that depend on pastoralism, Karenga district  people depend on farming and it’s the most food supporting district in the region since it has enough food which is brough about by the double farming seasons they get annually. 

The District Resident Commissioner RDC Mpimbaza Hashaka assured farmers of the improved security in the region hence protection from thugs and all other insecurities.

Godfrey Romoni the chairperson of Nataba Akolobo farmers group expressed joy on behalf of his colleagues.

He applauded government for the support extended to them which he said is going to enable them get massive production.
