The Vicar General of Kampala Archdiocese, Msgr Rogers Kabuye Mukasa, has applauded the staff of Uganda Martyrs Senior Secondary School Namugongo for maintaining a high standard of academic performance over the years.

Msgr Mukasa said Uganda Martyrs S.S. Namugongo has been among Uganda’s best-performing schools since 1994, noting that although the school initially had inadequate infrastructure, it has since developed into one of the schools with good structures in the country.
He also commended the school for its consistent performance at both Ordinary and Advanced levels, saying its students have continued to post excellent results in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.

Msgr Mukasa made the remarks while leading a thanksgiving Mass organised by the school at Namugongo Martyrs Catholic Shrine, where more than 200 students received the Holy Sacraments of Initiation.
He thanked teachers and parents for their efforts in supporting the students, saying their commitment has contributed to the school’s strong academic performance.
Msgr Mukasa urged parents to raise their children in accordance with Christian values, saying this helps instil good morals and enables young people to recognise God as a source of guidance in dealing with challenges.

He also encouraged students, particularly those in candidate classes, to work hard and progress from one level to another.
Msgr Mukasa was the main celebrant at the Mass and was joined by clergy from different parishes.
During the event, 36 students who scored 20 points in the 2025 UACE examinations were rewarded after the school refunded their third-term fees. The funds are intended to support the students as they begin their university education as a gesture of appreciation for their outstanding performance.
The head teacher of Uganda Martyrs S.S. Namugongo, Rev. Henry Kasasa, said the reward system was introduced to motivate other students, especially those in candidate classes, to work hard and achieve better results in the 2026 final examinations.

Rev. Kasasa noted that the school’s achievements extend beyond academics, saying students also participate in sports at both local and international levels, which contributes to their overall well-being.
He thanked parents and teachers for their continued efforts and support towards the school’s strong performance.
Parents of various students also attended the ceremony and joined in celebrating their children’s achievements.
The Mass also included prayers for students preparing to sit their final examinations in 2026 in both the secondary and primary sections, with the congregation asking God to guide and strengthen them.
