Lugya Tabula Bbosa, the prime suspect in the high-profile murder of former Lomwa Eng Daniel Bbosa, has made a startling confession, claiming the act was driven by vengeance and a quest to reclaim his ancestral inheritance.
In a defiant statement made before his appearance at Lubaga Nateete Court, formerly Mwanga II Court, Tabula admitted to orchestrating the killing, saying, “I paid the killers of Eng Daniel Bbosa.” His declaration was marked by a chilling lack of remorse, as he added, “I am ready to die for reclaiming what I believe is rightfully mine.”
Tabula’s statements were made amid tight security as he was transported to court in a drone marked UBJ 749B at approximately 3 p.m. He was shielded from the media by plain-clothed officers, who kept their faces hidden as the public watched him being escorted to court cells. Despite his apparent trembling, Tabula remained resolute in his stance.
According to Tabula, the murder was a necessary step to restore his position as the rightful head of the Ndiga clan. He further claimed that the killing was retribution for the death of his grandfather, Israel Kalyesubula, who, according to Tabula, was killed by the family of Eng. Bbosa.
Judge Adams Byarugaba read the murder charges against Tabula and his five co-accused. He cautioned Tabula to avoid making further statements, emphasizing that the investigation was complete.
Prosecutor Caroline Mpumwire confirmed that Tabula would remain remanded in Luzira Prison until October 3, 2024, when he and his co-accused will be committed for trial in the High Court.
“The investigation is complete,” said Mpumwire. “Tabula will remain remanded until October 3, 2024, for trial.”
