Three Injured in Namboole Flyover Collision Amidst Heavy Downpour

By Robert Segawa

On Friday morning, a deadly road crash at the Namboole flyover on the Kireka-Bweyogerere road left three individuals hospitalized with severe burns.

The collision involved a taxi (registration number UAX 036F) and a Nissan Fuga (registration number UBG 615A), which erupted into flames following the impact.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Nissan, traveling from Bweyogerere to Kireka, collided with the taxi coming from the opposite direction during a heavy rainstorm. The collision resulted in injuries to both drivers and a passenger in the Nissan, prompting immediate medical assistance.

Micheal Kananura, spokesperson for traffic and road safety, confirmed that the fire brigade responded swiftly to extinguish the flames, preventing further damage. The taxi driver was taken to Gwatilo Hospital, while the Nissan driver was referred to Nakasero Hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles have since been towed to Bweyogerere Police Station for further investigation and to restore normal traffic flow. Kananura cautioned motorists to prioritize road safety during adverse weather conditions, advising them to pull over and wait for improved visibility if driving becomes hazardous.
