The Opposition Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) on Monday officially launched its roadmap for 2025/2026 general elections.

The roadmap was released by the chairperson of the Party Electoral Commission, Haji Muhamoud Kazimbiraine at the party headquarters Kampala, slaping nomination fees to members who are interested in vying for elective positions at all levels.

According to Kazimbiraine, Presidential candidate is required to pay 20 million shillings, member of Parliament 1Million, LCV chairperson, and City Mayor 500,000/=, Municipality/city division Mayor 300,000/=, division Mayor, LCV councillors, and LCIII chairpersons 100,000/=, municipal councillor 200,000/=, LCIII councillor, and Parish Chairperson 10,000/=, and village chairperson to pay 5000/=.

According to road map, picking and returning of application forms of interest for the flag for both constituency and district/city Women member of Parliament (MP) will commence on 18th-25th July 2025, at party headquarters, and conducting primaries at this level where applicable is scheduled for 8th-10th August 2025.

Additionally, picking and returning of application form of interest for the party flag for all local government elective positions is scheduled for 10th-15th July 2025, ending on 18th-24th July, with polling exercise where applicable, whereas picking and returning of application form of interest for the Special Interest Groups (SIG) party flag is scheduled for 5th-10 May 2025, ending on 15th-17th May 2025 with polling activities.
However, he advised all members who are interested in all elective positions at all levels to express interest in their areas respectively, whereas all members who interested in the positions of the party president, Member of Parliament, District Chairperson and City Mayor are advised to pick the application form of interest from the party headquarters Kampala.
