Kisoro UPDF Officer Dies in Suspected Suicide After Manchester United Lost to Arsenal

The police in Kisoro district are investigating a suspected shooting of a Uganda people’s defence forces (UPDF) personnel after watching Manchester United loosing 0 – 1 to Arsenal last evening.
The deceased has been identified as Pte Kwesiga Samuel aged 32-year-old attached to Nyanamo detach under 35th battalion Kisoro district.


It is alleged that on Sunday 17th at around 6pm Pte Kwesiga a known Manchester united supporter in the detach went to watch the English Premier League match between Manchester United and Arsenal at Nyanamo Trading Centre and at around 9 pm he came back and told his colleagues that he was a bit tired and thus wanted to rest. He entered his unipot and locked himself from inside.


On Monday morning at around 7 am some people hard a gun shot emanating from his uniport, something which made them suspicious thinking that he could have accidentally fired a bullet and as they rushed to his uniport while calling on him, there was no response. But upon going behind his house, and peeping through the window, he was seen lying in a pool of blood. They immediately broke into his house and found him.


Elly Maate Kigezi region police spokesperson said the police was called the crime scene was visited, processed and documented by police together with UPDF officers.


He further adds that statements from witnesses were recorded and exhibits including a spent cartridge and the rifle with 4 magazines were recovered and exhibited, the body was conveyed to Kisoro hospital mortuary for the postmortem examination after which the body was handed over to the UPDf command structure for burial arrangements.


” Our investigation is underway to find out whether the possible suicide is related to the Manchester United lost to its rival Arsenal or something else”. say Elly Maate.
