NPP’s Kasibante Officially Nominated for Presidential Race, Vows Citizen-Led Change and Inclusive Growth

By Kabuye Ronald
Robert Kasibante, the presidential flagbearer for the National Peasants Party (NPP), was officially nominated today to contest in Uganda’s 2026 general elections.

He became the second candidate to complete the nomination process, following the earlier nomination of incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters in Lubowa.

Kasibante arrived at the EC offices under tight security, accompanied by a 16-member guard detail and a government vehicle bearing registration number UG0300006. His nomination came shortly after Elton John Mabirizi was turned away for failing to meet documentation requirements.

In his post-nomination address to the media, Kasibante delivered a passionate call for systemic change, championing equality, dignity, and grassroots-driven governance.

“We must break the walls of inequality. Restore dignity. The teachers, the nurses deserve a future that is certain,” he stated.

“To the international community, we invite you to build a new model of inclusive development. We are the majority empowered, not exploited. I come with courage, unbreakable will. I come to you. This is your campaign.”

Kasibante’s remarks underscored a campaign rooted in citizen empowerment and equity, signaling his intent to connect with ordinary Ugandans as he positions himself as a challenger to the status quo in the 2026 race.
