NRM’s Museveni Pledges Intensified Wealth Creation and Industrial Growth in Gulu

By Jumah Kakomo/ Kabuye Ronald

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has assured the electorate in Gulu District and Gulu City of intensified socioeconomic empowerment programs that his government plans to implement in the next term as part of a broader strategy for individual and household wealth creation.

Addressing supporters at Kaunda Stadium in Gulu City, President Museveni outlined key initiatives that include industrialization, service sector enhancement, trade facilitation, and cross-sector synergies aimed at creating more jobs and boosting local incomes.

Highlighting the Four-Acre Model, he listed seven proposed enterprises such as poultry, coffee growing, fruit farming, cattle rearing, and fish farming along wetland edges. He emphasized that these ventures have proven successful among beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and private individuals who have adopted similar projects.

The NRM flag bearer reaffirmed his commitment to promoting fish farming as a sustainable wetland conservation measure. He revealed that his own model fish farm earns approximately UGX 100 million per pond annually, adding that similar projects will be replicated across Gulu’s wetlands in the next term to improve livelihoods.

Museveni urged voters in Gulu District and the broader Acholi sub-region to evaluate the NRM government based on its proven track record—including the restoration of peace and stability, development of infrastructure, and broad-based wealth creation initiatives.

He stressed that while the government has provided significant social and economic infrastructure, wealth creation at the household level remains the responsibility of individuals who must take advantage of the available opportunities.

Furthermore, Museveni encouraged residents to leverage the East African and African markets, noting that one of the key points in the NRM manifesto is to foster regional and continental trade to expand markets for Ugandan products.

Concluding his address, Museveni reaffirmed his stance on maintaining strategic security in Africa, asserting that peace and stability remain the foundation for sustainable development and prosperity.
