Museveni Urges Ngora Residents to Judge NRM by Its Development Record and Support Continued Transformation

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has called on the people of Ngora District to assess the NRM government based on its performance in infrastructure, peace, and wealth creation, which he said have transformed lives and communities across the country.

Speaking during his presidential campaign rally at BKC Demo Primary School playgrounds in Ngora District, General Museveni emphasized that the NRM’s manifesto is issue-based, with practical strategies aimed at achieving socioeconomic transformation. He urged voters to re-elect him and all NRM flag bearers to consolidate the progress already achieved and to implement more development and wealth creation programs.

Museveni highlighted several key infrastructural achievements in Ngora District, including the expansion of electricity coverage to all sub-counties and the improvement of road networks. He also announced plans to establish a massive gravity water supply system from Lake Kyoga to serve the districts of Ngora, Serere, and Bukedea, aiming to provide clean and safe water to over 90% of households. Currently, 131 out of 146 villages in Ngora already have access to clean water.

The NRM flag bearer further outlined plans to upgrade and construct new health facilities in Ngora District. These include upgrading Opot HCII and Atoot HCII to HCIII status, and constructing new HCIIIs in Agirigiroi, Morukakise, and Ngora Sub-Counties. Additionally, he confirmed plans to construct a staff house, immunization shade, and perimeter fence at Mukura HCIII.

On education, General Museveni reiterated the NRM government’s commitment to free universal education, pledging to increase the number of government primary and secondary schools to ensure each parish and sub-county has adequate facilities.

He also urged residents to focus on wealth creation, describing it as a personal-driven initiative supported by government programs. He encouraged adoption of the four-acre model through ventures such as coffee, fruits, pasture growing, poultry, piggery, and fish farming. Museveni also reaffirmed the government’s cattle restocking program as a key pillar of rural wealth creation.

Cautioning against “deceitful opposition politicians,” Museveni advised voters to look at politics through a socioeconomic transformation lens, not mere idealism. He said the NRM’s consistent record of peace, stability, and progress provides a solid foundation for Uganda’s continued growth.

During the rally, NRM National Vice Chairperson for Female Affairs, Anita Among, and NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Region, Calvin Echodu, commended the people of Ngora for supporting the party and highlighted major achievements in road infrastructure, electricity distribution, and water supply.

Ngora District NRM Chairperson, John Michael Okello, also presented a district status report, noting significant improvements in service delivery under the NRM government.
