By Robert Segawa

Police in Nateete have arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with a case of alleged child torture involving burns inflicted with a heated polythene bag.

The suspect, identified as Nankunda Esther, is a resident of Kanaala Zone, Mutundwe Parish in Bunamwaya Division, Wakiso District.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld for protection, is a 10-year-old Primary Four pupil. It is alleged that the child had been left in the suspect’s care by her brother.

According to police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, preliminary findings indicate that on Eid Day at around 5:00 p.m., the suspect allegedly burned the child’s hands using a heated white polythene bag, accusing the victim of stealing 100,000 Ugandan shillings.
