A 39-year-old boda boda rider was killed instantly while three other people sustained serious injuries following a road crash at Kyanamira Trading Centre along the Kabale–Mbarara Highway on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Niwagaba Gilbert, a resident of Kyamugaba Village, Kanjobe Parish, Kyanamira Sub-county in Kabale District.
According to Kigezi Region Traffic Police, the crash occurred on August 6 and involved a Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UBK 071L, and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFD 939Z.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime said three other victims, whose identities had not been established by press time, sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the Fuso Fighter truck, which was travelling from Kampala to Kisoro, allegedly lost control before veering off the road and ramming into a parked motorcycle. The impact killed the boda boda rider instantly and left three other people with serious injuries.
Traffic police have since launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution while using the Kabale–Mbarara Highway to help prevent similar incidents.
