Be frugal with our resources and increase worker’s pay without discrimination

By Ndawula Ronald

In Uganda we rarely fault the leaders in the face and that’s what makes Africans fake in most of their undertakings.

This pretense and inferiority complex which we often passover to our children enabled the colonialists take over our future by selling our ancestors with impunity as slaves and has made us blindly follow western traditions like christianity and Islam without question.

In Uganda there’s a thinking that the President is infallible and usually we blame his advisors even if clearly he is the one who has performed a gaffe.

To follow the principle, I would like to send home on leave the person who advised the President to raise the salaries of scientists and disregarding other sector players.

If we take for instance the teachers, how do you raise the chemistry teacher yet the history teacher also does the same quantity of work in the same class?

The Uganda scientist who can’t even manufacture a safety pin or tooth pick is not different from a private army man in Congo operation Shujaa. They are both wasting resources and doing nothing.

Soon, if we hold this trend, the pay raise will be for those who hold the guns manufactured by scientists!

The best scientist in Uganda, Dr.Musenero has so far made Uganda lose 100 billion in less than 2 years and the best she did is to buy rats at 8million each and fly them to Uganda!

I was going to be surprised if other civil servants had not reacted by putting down their tools because this is total embarrassment to the advisors who didn’t think through this action.

How can you increase my fellow teacher in the same school 4million and you give me less than 1m!

Let the same advisors also tell the President to let all Ugandans study science and they abolish Arts.

I believe the country will be better according to them.

I have never seen a scientist who doesn’t need the history of their science.

The most qualified Professional scientist will ultimately need a lawyer when he gets his day in court.

The science pilot will definitely need the geography map reading skills, just as the physics scientist will need to know the history of Newtons laws of motion , and archimedes principles of flotation.

The historian will need the Wright brothers story just as the aeronautical engineers.

All arts and sciences complement each other in the education cycle.

People must be paid for their unique experience and expertise and what they do with what they studied.

Like a doctor is a unique experience and and his expertise universally sought, this is a supply and demand question which will automatically translate into higher pay for a Medical Doctor.

I have seen a qualified veterinary Doctor who is unemployed! Should we pay him for being a scientist?

In the US intelligence, the undercover agent who infiltrates the enemy hierarchy, learns their modus operandi and language,  socialised with the enemy maybe equally important as the silicon valley designer of a new hypersonic missiles.

How about the pretenders in  Parliamentarians who can’t even construct an english sentence but rewarded 40 million for doing nothing but to give the President 2 billion every day for upkeep, is that a science?

Psychology is a complete course unit in  medicine science at university.  You can’t get a plausible reason to separate humanities and science.

I have seen and met the most stupid district engineers in my tour of duty who will need a calculator to multiply 9×9!

Do they deserve to be dished the millions because they pretend to have studied science?

Counsellors at health units across the country play a pivotal role in diagnosing, treating and overall wellbeing and comfort of patients but they trained in the direction of humanities.

Now that there’s need to increase salaries to people let’s do it across the board because there are no prices in the market for science teachers and art teachers.

Unless when government draws a distinction that let science teachers buy from supermarkets and art teachers to buy from street vendors.

Let us stop the wasteful expenditure in phoney wars, dishing money to Pinneti in nonexistent Lubowa hospital, unnecessary recruitment of army without wars to fight, buying useless military hardware and expensive cars for speakers in a crisis, stop the birth day parties, bribes to MPs and cut the size of our parliament and this will be a pearl of Africa and it’s people will have a genuine smile.
