Agnes Namatovu a staunch National Unity Platform NUP supporter and human rights activist has been released on bond by Kawempe Police station after being interrogated for over eight hours.

Police summoned Namatovu on the 21st may 2023 and she appeared there on the same date at the CID department of Kawempe police station where she was interrogated over matters of inciting violence.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango while in areas of Kawempe, Bwaise, Nabweru and Nansana, Agnes Namatovu together with Nakitto Lydia alias Maama Sam, a Women councilor of Nansana West A and B to the Nansana Municipality and Senono Dennis, a local council 3 councilor in Kawempe division both on NUP ticket not only master minded but also mobilized and incited the public to demonstrate and riot against the rampant murders in the country.
Onyango added that unlike the duo that was arrested on the 08th May 2023 while participating in the demonstration, Namatovu managed to escape before being arrested and has since been on wanted until she was summoned on the 21st of May 2023. Charges of Inciting violence have been opened up against her on a file number CRB 758/ 2023 which police has submitted to the office of the directorate of public prosecution for perusal and decide on the next cause of action. Our efforts to speak to Namatovu were futile however, sources close to her told this website that she was still receiving medical treatment since she was allegedly unwell and so traumatized
