Alliance for National Transformational presidential flag bearer and former Uganda People’s Defence Forces army commander Rtd. Maj. Gen. Gregg Mugisha Muntu has pledged to make the army’s presence in the public no more once voted into presidency.
While campaigning in the districts of Kalaki, Amuria, Kapelebyog, Muntu expressed concern over what he termed as indiscipline amongst security organs especially those enforcing laws around water body communities.
He said that once he becomes president, he will take back the army back to the barracks to wait for wars to come out and then he trains water bodies’ police that can professionally conduct their work without brutalizing the people that pay them through their taxes.
“We share Lake Victoria amongst three countries, but the brutalization of fishermen is only on Ugandan side! You can enforce discipline on the lake without being brutal.” Said Muntu
He called upon president Museveni to take the army from lake Kyoga since they are not supposed to be in the public but rather barracks and come out during wars.
