The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Military police has revealed that it aligned and charged Luta Ferdinand, the man who was arrested in Kampala for beating Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni effigy before its own disciplinary court.
The revelation is contained in the letter by the Military Police commandant Col. Keith Katungi to the High Court civil division.
The letter also revealed that Ferdinand is not in their custody.
“He was charged with the offence of unlawful possession of government store and was remanded to Kitalya government prison.
The applicant is scheduled to appear before court for mention of his charges on 30th of March 2020.
This is therefore to inform the Honorable court that the applicant is not in our custody. “Reads the letter in parts
The response comes after the high court civil division at Kampala on Friday issued a habeas corpus against CDF, AG and Commander Makindye Military over the alleged illegal detention of Luta Ferdinand.
Luta was arrested on February 15th beating President Museveni’s effigy using a stick and communicating through a megaphone accusing the Effigy of the rampant Kidnaps and vote rigging.
Luta is also a member of The Alternative Social Movement
