By Kabuye Ronald

The presiding Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) in Uganda, Jacinto Kibuuka who was also excommunicated by the Deceased Kampala Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga from the Roman Catholic Church has opened up about his life with the late.

While mourning the tragedy that befallen the Roman Catholic Church and the country at large of the death of Archbishop Dr. Kizito Lwanga  at Mamre International Prayer Centre in Namugongo, Janda, Wakiso District during the Easter Sunday Divine Liturgy, Bishop Kibuuka narrated the great attachment and memories he had with the late who he described as his mentor and father.

Kampala Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga was found dead in his room on Saturday morning. https://trustednewsug.com/index.php/2021/04/03/archbishop-kazimba-mugalu-bishop-kibuuka-eulogize-archbishop-kizito-lwanga/

Bishop Kibuuka  revealed that it was Archbishop Lwanga who ordained him a deaconate and a priest in addition to appointing him to various great positions in the service of the Roman Catholic Church including appointment to lead the renovation and construction of the Namugongo and Munyonyo Martyrs sites, appointment as the secretary of the committee that organized the visit of Pope Francis to Uganda in November 2015 and appointment as a personal secretary for five years in addition to educating him.

“I was the first person he ordained as a deaconate as the Kampala Archdiocese Archbishop, as in he laid first his hands on me before ordaining me as a priest later on. He sent me to Masulita before taking me to stay with him for over five years and during my stay with him as personal secretary and advisor he sponsored my education in public health and health services management

He appointed me to the Uganda Martyrs Guild as a national promoter, then to lead the construction of the Namugongo and Munyonyo martyr’s sites and the visit of Pope Francis in 2015. He appointed me as the deputy leader of Bukalango and then sent me to Nsambya ” Said Kibuuka

Bishop Kibuuka also said that despite being misled to excommunicate him but Archbishop Lwanga loved him so much.

“Archbishop Lwanga loved me so much to the extent that at times we used to move together in my small car. However he was misled by the enemy to excommunicate me so it wasn’t his fault. The excommunication also opened up another door for me to serve God in another Church where iam a Bishop now! so I hold no grudge on him since we all serve the same God. He opened a door for me and I thank him so much.

The news of his death shocked me and brought sorrow in my heart because he was my father and mentor. He taught me management and episcopate and he taught me well otherwise the EOC bishops who sat in Stockholm, Canada wouldn’t appoint me a Bishop.

To further understand how much he loved me, he even used to buy for me clerical clothes and other good clothes.” Said Kibuuka

He further described Archbishop Lwanga as a person who loved his religion the Roman Catholic Church, committed to development, hard worker, a person who loved his country,  Buganda Kingdom and his clan “the Mamba Clan”, loved Ecumenism, an advocate of peace and  justice.

Bishop Kibuuka hence prayed for Archbishop Lwanga’s soul to rest in eternal peace.
