Youth Line Forum call for the revoke of the unfair ban, clamp down on NGOs , revision of NGO act, freeing of political prisoner

By Kabuye Ronald

Youth line Forum has urged the NGO Bureau to revoke the unfair ban and clamp down on the Civil Society organizations without fail and also to revise the NGO act which they say has many unfair provisions.

Ruth Asiimwe, the Technical advisor of the Youth Line Forum has asserted that in order to improve the civic space environment in the country, all actors especially state actors that have perpetuated a clamp down on civic space by targeting civil society Leaders and have limited their right of expression as provided for in Chapter 4 of the Constitution must be singularly identified and brought to book.

She committed that her organization will aid about 200 organizations which are not validated to successfully get validation as provided for in the NGO Act.

Asiimwe also expressed dismay over the Judicial and poor Legal Regime and security Brutality before challenging the Government actors to do their role of the bargain in ensuring a leveled ground and advancing for a free and Fair Civic Space.

She demanded the responsible government bodies to release all the political prisoners and urged civil society actors to also remain steadfast.

“As Civil society Actors we remain committed to the fair provisions of the Laws of Uganda. We remain committed to the Citizens of Uganda in ensuring that they have a well projected voice in causing accountability where it is required. Our resolve gets stronger every day, we call upon all other actors to stay Resilient because we have the potential.” Said Asiimwe

Meanwhile Asiimwe is concerned that the Poor transparency and accountability of the Covid 19 funds will affect the efforts in place to fight the crisis thus worsening the situation
