One shot dead, bar owner arrested in Natete parish, Kampala

The territorial police at Katwe is investigating a murder by shooting that happened on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at around 10:16pm in Natete Parish.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Oweyesigyire, the deceased has been identified as Magidu Mugwanya, 43, resident of Kibumbiro B Zone, Busega Parish, Rubaga Division in Kampala City.

He says that preliminary investigations have indicated that the deceased could have been shot as a result of an argument at a bar joint belonging to one Patience who has since been arrested to help police with the investigations.  She is also likely to be charged for operating a bar something that is against Covid-19 guidelines issued by the ministry of health. 

Luke adds that two pistol cartridges found at the scene and items from the deceased’s car are part of the exhibits as investigations proceed to identify the suspect.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to mortuary for a post mortem.
