Man who beat up President M7’s effigy missing in prison

By Kabuye Ronald

Luta Ferdinand, the youth that took to Kampala road Street, with a bell and flogged President Yoweri Kagutta Museveni effigy early this year is reportedly missing from Kitalya prison according to The Alternative Social Movement.

Addressing a press conference, the National coordinator for the Alternative movement Norman Tumuhimbise said that their several attempts to see Luta at the prison have always ended in vain with the last time being the 13th, October when a one Mukiibi Abubaker was told that Luta Ferdinand wasn’t in their custody and subsequently given a document proving the same, which Norman has displayed to the media.

The movement is now demanding  the ministry of internal affairs and prisons authority to produce Luta Ferdinand who was remanded to their facility (Kitalya prison) by Makindye General Court martial dead or alive.

“Our legal Team led by Eron kiiza of kiiza and  Mugisha tried to file bail at the general court martial on 4th May 2021 but the court ruled that it was to be heard on 12th Oct 2021 hence waiting patiently  only to be informed on the fateful day that they were unable to produce him in court.

Luta Ferdinand was arrested on Feb 15 2021 along Entebbe road traffic lights while beating President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s effigy accusing it of carrying out rampant kidnaps using drone vehicle and rigging the 2021 elections.

Norman also revealed that they are to petition the leader of opposition in parliament Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba on the same matter and have their pain raised in parliament.

Our efforts to speak to the Prison spokesperson went futile since our repeated calls couldn’t go through.
