The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has revealed that the Kawempe North legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya alias Mr. Updates who is apparently in critical condition at Mulago National Referral hospital is being harassed by the state operatives to denounce the struggle.
In his Facebook post, shortly after visiting Ssegirinya, Bobi wine asserted that several state operatives and politicians keep frequenting his treatment room and harassing him to apologize to president Museveni and denounce the struggle or else he will not be freed from his misery which Sseirinya has refused to do.
“We have visited Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya at Mulago Hospital to ascertain his current state of health and give him moral support. He has complained of excruciating pain in his foot, and breathing difficulties. We have learnt from him that several state operatives and politicians keep frequenting his treatment room and harassing him to apologize to Dictator Museveni and denounce the struggle or else he will not be freed from his misery. I have been encouraged to observe, however, that comrade Hon. Ssegirinya is braving this suffering with unimaginable fortitude and conviction.”
According to the spokesperson of the Uganda Prisons Service, Frank Baine,the legislator was rushed to Mulago hospital on Friday after his condition worsen at Kitalya prison.
Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West are battling charges of murder, attempted murder, inciting violence and terrorism following the spate of killings in the greater Masaka region in the months August and September
