Martyrs’ Day Celebrations: BP. Kibuuka rallies Gov’t, Public on Justice, calls for gov’t funding

The Chairperson of Christian Ecumenical Council Of Uganda (CECU) Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka has urged government officials, leaders and the public at large to use the martyrs’ day to stop being unjust in their lives, decision making and actions against others.

Bishop Kibuuka made the remarks while celebrating the Martyr’s Day at Mamre Prayer Centre in Namugongo, Janda which is the third Christian Martyrs’ site.

Bishop Kibuuka said that the injustice and unfairness that happened then has resurfaced in almost  every aspect of life giving an example of Many innocent people who are imprisoned and convicted because their opinion, land grabbers among others.

However, he said the blame shouldn’t only go to government but every person before challenging them to check their individual actions and behavior asserting that many people do everything possible to oppress others and wishing others bad which is evident in homes, work places, public offices, religion, traditional and in the communities.

He also urged the government to meditate on the Martyrs day and release all those that are imprisoned because of their opinions and innocently imprisoned since the Ruling government went in the bush to fight for justice, peace, stability, transparency and prosperity which they thus must practice.

Bishop Kibuuka, who thanked government for providing them with tight but polite security and good medical team from the ministry of Health, also appealed to it to help them fund the development of their Martyrs pilgrimage site and fund their organizing budget as it’s the case with the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches.

He added that government should as well give them vehicles as they do with other church leaders.

The Archbishop for the Charismatic Episcopal Church who also led this year’s celebrations from United States of America USA Charles Jones urged everyone to not only love the Uganda Martyrs but to also emulate them by surrendering their entire lives to Jesus Christ.

“If you want freedom, abundance life, good health, peace, victory, love, joy, happiness, strength among other good things surrender your life to Jesus Christ and let him reign in you.” Said Archbishop Charles Jones

Meanwhile, the Elgon North Member of Parliament who was also the Guest of honor Hon. Nangoli Gerald urged the public to make use of the government programs before adding that he always strives to save in people’s interest.

CECU an Umbrella that units six religion celebrated this year’s martyrs day under the theme: “ Fear Not for am with you “ Isaiah 41: 10.
