The chairman of Hold a Hand Foundation/Ministries, Nyanzi William, narrowly escaped being lynched by an angry mob at the organization’s offices in Malangala Village, Kiwawu Sub-county, Mityana District. The incident stemmed from allegations that the foundation was secretly recruiting children into homosexuality.
According to residents, some of whom are parents of children sponsored by the foundation for schooling in undisclosed institutions in Kampala, suspicions escalated over the children’s whereabouts and the organization’s true intentions. Tensions boiled over when the residents demanded answers and evidence that their children were not being influenced or recruited into homosexual acts.

During the scuffle, Nyanzi’s secretary Nantambi Josephine and several staff members managed to flee through a back exit, prompting the crowd to vandalize office property in anger and frustration.
The unrest intensified following the recent burial of Nyanzi’s uncle, Ntwatwa Yuda, in Misebe Lubira Village, where a family dispute broke out. Relatives reportedly confronted Nyanzi and chased him away, citing long-standing family concerns related to his alleged sexual orientation of being a gay. According to sources, Nyanzi’s father, Kyagulanyi Ronald, had previously disowned him over these issues.

Witnesses say that parents who had travelled with the foundation staff to the burial returned and helped rally residents for an impromptu protest at the ministry’s offices two days later.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Nyanzi is also a Pentecostal pastor at City Life Church in Buloba, along Mityana Road.
The Mityana District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Martin Okoyo, confirmed the incident and noted that Nyanzi remains at large. He condemned the mob attack, urging residents to seek legal channels rather than resorting to violence.
