Parish Development Model officially launched in Kiboga District, beneficiaries cautioned

Government has officially launched the parish development model program in Kiboga district kick starting it with 36 million shillings per parish.

Hon. Ssozi Galabuzi the coordinator of this program in the country cautioned the beneficiaries against diverting the funds for luxurious things like introductions and weddings but rather use them for the intended developmental purpose to fight poverty.

Residents of Kalyango – Nkandwa parish in Kiboga district are among the first beneficiaries of the parish development model funds in Kiboga district.

A cheque of 33.5 million shillings was officially handled over to them by the coordinator of the parish development model program in the country Ssozi Galabuzi together with the leadership within the district led by the minister for energy and mineral development Ruth Nankabirwa who also doubles as the former woman Mp for Kiboga district.

The beneficiaries have been advised to use the funds for the intended purpose to grow themselves and elevate from poverty especially from the house hold level.

There are over 10,594 parishes in the country and the launch of the PDM programme by the president last year also operationalized parish SACCOS through which people will be able to obtain financing for development. Currently, there are 8,333 registered Parish SACCOS.

Under the initiative, each parish was last financial year supposed to receive 17 million shillings with a plan to increase the money to 100 million shillings in the coming financial year.  

In the same way, the presidential advisor on political affairs hajjati Hadijjah Namyalo used the occasion to launch the ” Jajja tova ku main campaign  in Kiboga which is intended to rally especially the young people to appreciate the historical works and sacrifices by president Museveni and as well to mobilize them to continue supporting him .
