Three terms are enough, I will not seek re-election, Kiryandongo Woman MP

By Kundu Ronald

The Kiryandongo district Woman Member of Parliament, Hon Kahunde Helen has declared that she will not seek re-election in 2026 after serving her third term.

Hon Kahunde Helen has served as Woman MP since 2011 when the district was curved out of Masindi district.

Below is a verbatim of her statement:

Beloved people of Kiryandongo District, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Kahunde Helen Max, the Woman MP of the district.

I would like to give a big thank you in a special way to all of you for choosing me as your MP for 3 terms. I feel honored and grateful for the trust and support you have given me to date.

However, ladies and gentlemen, today I have a special announcement I would like to make. After thinking carefully, I have decided that I will not run for re-election in the  upcoming 2026 general election.

I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to my party the National Resistance Movement and the entire NRM structure in Kiryandongo District for nurturing me and giving me the opportunity to serve the country.

Once again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and I pledge to continue serving you even when I am not MP.

Thank you all, FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY.
