The SGBV/TIP Department of CID Headquarters, working in coordination with the Territorial police in KMP South, have on Thursday, charged D/SP Arinaitwe Gilbert Bwana, a crime intelligence officer, on criminal charges of trafficking in persons for sexual exploitation, at Buganda Road court.
The suspect, who brought the 23 year old, female victim from Ntungamo District to work as a maid, allegedly coerced her into repeated acts of sex at his home in Bandwe-Nalumunye on the 25.07.2023.
The suspected has been remanded to Luzira prison until the 17th, August when the trial magistrate will deliver his Bail application ruling.
According to the police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga, the suspect was arrested, investigated, and now charged to court. More charges are pending retrieval of DNA results.
“The fact that the suspect is a sworn police officer with a duty to protect the public makes the case more egregious. His appearance in court shows our commitment to fight all persons who victimize vulnerable citizens, irrespective of their status.” Said Enanga
Gilbert Arinaitwe Bwana, came to limelight in 2011 for smashing Dr. Kizza Besigye’s car and pepper sprayed him which led for his admission to Aga Khan hospital.
