The opposition Forum for Democratic Change FDC has announced dates for the elections of the National Executive Committee (NEC) members.

According to the notice issued in the Friday Daily Monitor newspaper signed on the 16th, August, 2023 by the party Chairperson, Electoral Commission Hon. Toterebuka Boniface Bamwenda, the delegates will convene at UMA show grounds, Lugogo – Kampala on 9th, October, 2023 where they will hold the elections from.
Bamwenda in the notice indicated that they are out of time since the 3 years extension of the term of office due to Covid19 as was passed by the National Council ends on 08th, October 2023.
“Aware that owing to the Covid pandemic, elections for the party organs/ office bearers could not be held, and the National Council, in its 14th sitting held on the 08th day of October 2020, under resolution No. 05, extended the respective term of office bearers for a period of (3) three years, which expires on the 08th day of October 2023;

Aware that the party electoral commission, under article 29(2) of the Forum for Democratic Change party constitution, is charged with the mandate of organizing, managing and overseeing all party election;
This is to Announce, that the ongoing general elections of the party, being conducted at all levels, shall culminate in a meeting of the delegates whose business will be to elect members of the National Executive Committee, as provided for under article 21 of the party constitution” reads a notice in parties
