In a move to save Kira Municipality legislator also the sacked Forum for Democratic Change FDC party whip in parliament, Dr. Kiiza Besigye reportedly made a phone call to the speaker of parliament Anita Annet Among and pleaded with her to do whatever she could do within her means to save Sssemujju, one of the party members allied to his camp and his camp as a whole from embarrassment, by frustrating his withdrawal from the position for Mawokota South legislator Hon, Yusuf Nsibambi.

Reliable sources close to the speaker and Dr. Besigye confirmed to us that Dr. Besisigye’s conversation with the speaker Among who was FDC before joining the ruling National Resistance Movement NRM, lasted for quite long time.
After an interaction between the two giants, the speaker issued a letter that her office was in receipt of a petition from nine FDC MPs challenging the procedures through which Ssemujju had been replaced, hence staying him, which was challenged by some legal brains and opposition politicians plus the FDC party.
The source asserts that it started with Ssemujju calling the speaker on learning that a letter communicating his withdrawal changes was coming at her office shortly, pleading with her not to receive it because it had no minutes attached.
The source explains that when Ssemujju called, he pleaded to the speaker to save him.

How does Fdc Change Parliamentary Leadership
The way the party changed Ssemujju is the same way it has been changing leadership in parliament. The party president appoints appointees and goes through the working committee or NEC depending on urgency of the matter. For this case, the working committee sat and resolved that Ssemujju be replaced with Nsibambi and as the practice the party Secretary General communicated the changes to the Speaker of Parliament.
It should be recalled that when FDC president Patrick Amuriat Oboi succeeded Gen Muntu, he withdrew then the Bugweri county MP Abdu Katuntu and Bukedea woman MP Anita Among-as chairperson and vice chairperson respectively of COSASE committee in 2018. This was done through a letter then to the speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

By the time of the communication, they were investing the bank of Uganda and in relation to commercial banks. Kadaga first refused by attempting to block it. However, on learning that there was no legal backing to her move, she requested FDC for one month to enable them first conclude their report. They two were later were succeeded by Hon Moses Kasibante and HON Mubarak Munyagwa.
According to the sources, Ssemujju has been Among’s blue eyed boy reflected in many foreign trips and time spent in submitting during parliamentary sessions.
The source further asserts that Ssemujju and the team had a planned mobilization drives in Lango and Acholi sub region and he counted on regional MPs to raise funds for the same to which they declined thus chickening out and aborting the game plan.
