The organizing committee for the consecration of the new Bishop of East Busoga diocese in the Church of Uganda Rev. Canon Hannington Ssuubi has embarked on the process of fundraising UGX 450m to carter for the consecration ceremony.
Late last month, the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda announced Rev. Canon Hannington Paul Ssuubi as the Bishop elect for the newly created East Busoga Diocese.
The East Busoga diocese Bishop elect Rev.Canon ssuubi will be consecrated and enthroned on 19th November 2023at St. Stephens Pro cathedral in Bugiri district.
Addressing the press at the Uganda Management Institute Nakawa, the chairman organizing committee of the ceremony, Dr.John Nakabago disclosed that the consecration ceremony will be led by the Archbishop of the Anglican Church His Grace Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu and thus they must organize a colorful event.
He also confirmed that the president of Uganda His excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has already confirmed his attendance as the chief guest to the consecration ceremony that is expected to attract thousands of people both within and outside Busoga. He thus urged since all well-wishers within Uganda, the neighboring districts of Busoga and in diaspora to support them both in prayers and financially.
The Patron of the organizing committee who also doubles as the minister in charge of general duties in the office of the Prime Minister Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba thanked the house of bishops for giving them the person who is ready and has passion to appropriately lead them the spiritual, developmental and social areas.
She assured the new Bishop elect that the money will be raised since Busoga is a rich community with a great culture and diverse in a number of aspects.
She also applauded the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu for establishing a new diocese for the people of Bukholi thus assuring him that they are ready to receive him.
Minister Lumumba also said that the celebrations are going to be double blessing to the Busoga region since they will happen the following day after the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV’s Royal Wedding.
The bishop elect Rev. Canon Hannington Paul Ssuubi thanked the organizing committee for the kind words and great work done so far. He added that his election and their appointment to th committee was purely by the grace of the God.
He added that he will count on Christians to build the young diocese spiritually, socially, economically and developmental wise thus lifting the welfare and lives of people in the diocese.
