Marijuana addicts accused of killing, injuring residents in Kassanda district

Authorities in Kassanda district have cautioned youths in Mbiriizi Sub-County Kasanda District against using marijuana that is said to influence them into acts of attacking residents sometimes killing and injuring them in pursuant of stealing of stealing from. .

The Kassanda District chairman Fred Kasirye Zzimula warning came after several complaints from the residents regarding the rampant killings in the area attributed to marijuana addicts who are said to be the perpetrators.

Zzimula said the people of Mbiriizi these days are in worrying a state because of the marijuana addicts who disturb their peace all the time, attack their homes with pangas terrorizing everyone they find resulting into the suspected  killing of eleven people while many are in hospitals treating injuries.

Zzimula said with the help of police, they have been trying to solve the problem and some perpetrators have been arrested but when they reach the police custody, they pretend to be mad, hence they have now embarked on stepping up security until peace is restored in the area.

Zzimula who is also a staunch Democratic party member also warned the gold miners in various mines in Mbiriizi Sub-County to stop the vice of stealing people’s food and livestock saying that as authorities in the district, they will conduct raids to arrest them.

“Some of these miners  are from the kisiita mine, when they feel hungry, they raid people’s fields and pastures, stealing food and animals, so that they can get something to eat, but warn them to stop it since once arrested it will be the court to judge them.” Zzimula said
