In a groundbreaking move towards dismantling voter ignorance, Katale Zone in Wandegeya Parish witnessed an inspiring voter education campaign orchestrated by the Assistant District Electoral Administrator ADEA/ Returning Officer Kawempe Division Rehemah Nassuna.

This innovative approach unfolded today, reached into the heart of the community, encompassing local saloons, vibrant makeup studios, and bustling businesses like tailoring shops.
The initiative took a unique turn by distributing aprons as tokens of appreciation to individuals armed with both a National ID and the ability to answer questions correctly about elections.

Ms. Nassuna, emphasized the importance of combating voter ignorance. Saying that the effort extends beyond conventional boundaries, urging Ugandans to recognize voting not just as a right but as a responsibility integral to the democratic fabric of the nation.
“This strategic voter education campaign goes beyond the dissemination of information; it acts as a catalyst, encouraging citizens to embrace their civic duty with pride. The door-to-door approach breaks down barriers, weaving democracy seamlessly into the daily lives of the community.” Said Ms Nassuna

She added that the aprons are more than mere garments since they symbolized a commitment to informed citizenship and an active role in shaping the democratic future.

“As the aprons found new homes in the midst of salons, makeup studios, and tailoring businesses, a powerful message resonated – knowledge is the key to an enlightened electorate. The ADEa’s leadership in this initiative marks a significant step towards a more informed and empowered community, where every vote is seen not just as a right but as a vital contribution to Uganda’s democratic journey. Today’s endeavor stands as a shining example of how voter education can be both dynamic and impactful, fostering a sense of civic responsibility that echoes far beyond election seasons.” Said Ms. Nassuna
