The chairperson for Christian Ecumenical Council of Uganda CECU who is also the presiding Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodoxy Church in Uganda Jacinto Kibuuka has urged the public to desist from evil acts that are eating up the country and instead devote themselves to doing good just like the Uganda Martyrs devoted themselves to serving God and dying for their faith in God.

While celebrating the martyr’s day at Mamre International Prayer Centre in Namugongo, Bishop Kibuuka exhibited dismay over the immense corruption in the country, religious intolerance, embezzlement of public funds, greedy among the society, land grabbing, murders, selfishness and witchcraft.

Bishop Kibuuka emphasized that martyrs where from different tribes and at the point of death there was nothing like segregation basing on tribes. He thus urged Christians, politicians and the public to desist from acts of nurturing tribalism, nepotism, sectarianism witchcraft, deceit because they are evil acts.
Bishop Kibuuka didn’t spare the west who he accused of imposing evil vices such as homosexuality and lesbianism to African Christians and countries.

“As we are celebrating Martyrs’ day there are a lot of vices imposed to us Christian Africans by the west such as homosexuality and lesbianism especially among the youth.
We are threatened by the culture of gay, abortion, contraceptive, human sacrifices and violation of human rights, prostitution, cruel way of stealing and all kinds of moral decadency. All these are challenges we are facing as a society, Christians, religious leaders and the country at large” said Bishop Kibuuka.

He emphasized that Christianity must not be just for lip services but it must be the style of living by living what you profess.
“As we celebrate the Martyrs’ day, let’s do away with the evil acts and only stick to truth, honesty, be faithful to our God, have genuine concern for others, and be peace makers in everything no matter what.

Let us be genuine and upright in whatever we are doing because amidst all the challenges God is still on the throne and He calls us to fear not because He is with us in all situations. ” said Bishop Kibuuka

In the same way Gerald Nangoli, a member of parliament for Elgon North in Bulambuli district who was also the guest of honor urged the public to emulate Uganda Martyrs devotion.

“We can suffer, we can go through all the challenges and channels but at the end of the day there people who will benefit from your suffering that’s why we are celebrating the Martyrs.
As Uganda especially at this time when corruption is at the peak we should pray that Ugandans especially those stealing public funds and use it to build mansions on daily basis to change for good and mind about their legacy.

Let’s all join hands and fight corruption because at the end of the day we shall be answerable to God. ” Said Nangoli
