Godfrey Muhiirwa, Chairman of Yamaha Center, has made a significant contribution to the relief efforts for families affected by the Kiteezi Landfill tragedy. In response to the devastating collapse on August 10, 2024, Muhiirwa mobilized essential aid, including 300 pairs of bed sheets and other shelter materials, to help those impacted by the disaster.
In addition to providing physical necessities, Muhiirwa and his team offered emotional support and counseling to victims grappling with the trauma of losing loved ones and their homes. “We are committed to supporting our community in times of need,” Muhiirwa stated. “The Kiteezi tragedy has left many families in distress, and we want to help alleviate their suffering.”
Muhiirwa’s efforts have been recognized and commended by local leaders. Wakiso Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Justine Mbabazi praised Muhiirwa’s generosity and compassion. “Chairman Muhiirwa’s actions are a shining example of community spirit,” RDC Mbabazi said. “We appreciate his support and encourage others to follow his lead.”
However, RDC Mbabazi also issued a stern warning against individuals who falsely claim to be victims of the Kiteezi tragedy for personal gain. She urged those engaging in such deceitful behavior to cease immediately, stressing the importance of integrity and proper support for genuine victims.
As the community continues to recover from the disaster, Muhiirwa’s contributions underscore the critical role of collective support and compassion in addressing the immediate needs and long-term challenges faced by the affected families.
