The Kisoro district woman member of parliament by-election is just around the corner, and tensions are running high, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has issued a stern warning to the Electoral Commission and other stakeholders against engaging in vote rigging.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Oyat Arach Sharon, the party spokesperson, emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, ensuring that all citizens’ voices are heard and respected. She says It’s crucial for the Electoral Commission to ensure a free and fair election, maintaining the public’s trust in the democratic process.
Sharon highlighted that vote rigging can have severe consequences, including undermining public trust, sparking violence, and compromising the legitimacy of elected leaders
Now, Oyat is urging residents of Kisoro District to head to the polls tomorrow for the highly anticipated by-election emphasizing the importance of citizens exercising their right to vote, shaping the future of their district

The UPC has been actively campaigning for their candidate, Ingabire Mable, who is vying for the District Woman Member of Parliament seat, promising to deliver positive change for Kisoro district
“As the Electoral Commission prepares for tomorrow’s polls, UPC remains confident in our candidate’s chances, thanks to the overwhelming support from Kisoro residents. With agents and observers trained to safeguard votes, the party is committed to ensuring a free and fair election,” Sharon stated.
The UPC party president, Hon. Jimmy Akena has constantly emphasizing the need for change, stating that actual change can only be achieved at the top. He announced his intention to challenge for the top position in 2026, seeking to reactivate the foundations laid by previous UPC governments
The vacancy of Kisoro district woman member of parliment arose after the passing of Hon. Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, the former minister of state for defence and district woman lawmaker, on September 7,2024. The election scheduled for tomorrow, November 14, 2024, will determine her successor.
