The Holy Alliance is a coalition of opposition parties in Uganda. The alliance was formed with the goal of uniting opposition forces to challenge the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in elections.

The Holy Alliance comprises several opposition parties, including; Conservative Party (CP) led by John Ken Lukyamuzi, Justice Forum (JEEMA) led by Asuma Basalirwa, National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) led by Joseph Kizza Kabuleta, and DP Bloc now led by Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku.
The alliance allegedly aims to promote democracy, good governance, and human rights in Uganda. However, the alliance has faced challenges, including disagreements among member parties and difficulties in presenting a united front against the ruling party.
Now, the NEED President Joseph Kiiza Kabuleta has publicly distanced himself from the Holy Alliance, citing its financial motivations as the reason for his departure. Kabuleta expressed concerns that the alliance’s focus on financial gain undermines its ability to drive meaningful change in Uganda.

NEED President Kiiza Kabuleta has revealed that his party held meetings with the Holy Alliance to discuss a potential collaboration, but unfortunately, they couldn’t see eye-to-eye on their agenda. According to Kabuleta, the two parties had differing visions for the country, making it impossible for them to work together effectively.
Kabuleta disclosed that, according to their sources, the alliance is using President Museveni money, though the money was not revealed, which is against the party’s goal naming the holy lliance “Unholy, and Denfuct”
Kabuleta emphasized that his party’s primary goal is to bring about meaningful change in Uganda, and they couldn’t compromise on their core values. He believes that the opposition should focus on fronting multiple candidates to challenge the incumbent president rather than forming alliances that may not yield the desired results
As noted above, the Holy Alliance, comprising various opposition parties, had aimed to unite against the ruling party. However, Kabuleta’s NEED party has opted to pursue its own path, prioritizing its unique agenda and vision for Uganda’s future.
However, Kabuleta’s commitment to putting the needs of the Ugandan people above financial interests has led him to re-evaluate his alliances.
“By distancing myself from the Holy Alliance, I am aiming to maintain my integrity and continue fighting for the rights of Ugandans.
