IGP Byakagaba, Urges Teamwork and Excellence as 12 Senior Officers Receive Promotion to AIGP

By Robert Segawa
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abbas Byakagaba, today called for teamwork and dedication among Uganda’s newly promoted officers as they assumed the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) during a ceremony held at the Naguru Police Headquarters.

In his address, Byakagaba emphasized that the Uganda Police Force, under his leadership, cannot function effectively without the combined efforts of officers from all ranks, from constables to directors. He stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the Force’s goals of maintaining peace and security in Uganda.

“You are joining a team, and no one can succeed alone,” Byakagaba said, “Each member of this team, from the highest to the lowest rank, plays a critical role in the success of our mission.”

A total of 12 senior officers were decorated with the new rank of AIGP, representing a blend of experience, expertise, and youthful energy. Byakagaba noted that the new appointees reflect a perfect mix of seasoned professionals and dynamic leaders who are prepared to take on the task of building a better Uganda.

The promoted officers were reminded of their key responsibilities in the implementation of national projects such as the Parish Development Model and the Emyoga program, both of which are vital to the government’s vision of improving the welfare of Ugandans.

“You will be at the forefront of these initiatives, and I urge you to ensure their success through proper supervision, dedication, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity,” Byakagaba said.

The IGP also emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline within the force, urging the new AIGPs to oversee the welfare of their subordinates while remaining committed to a corruption-free environment. He reminded them that public trust in the police is critical to the force’s credibility and effectiveness.
