By Robert Segawa

The joint task force comprising Police and the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has launched an intensive search for three suspects linked to a murder and aggravated robbery reported at Kiwatule Police Station.

The attack resulted in the tragic deaths of Tugume Albert Cook Apuuli, a shop owner and brother of Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, and Barnabas Sabiti, a boda boda rider who attempted to assist Tugume during the robbery.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, identified the three suspects still at large as Kabuye Hussein, Bambaiha Joseph alias Fire, and Lukenge Martin.

Four other suspects have already been arrested and charged with murder and aggravated robbery. They include:

Mutagubya Jimmy (27), a boda boda rider from Ssempagala Zone, Nakawa Division.

Kayemba Bosco Ssalongo (47), a builder from Kawanda Nakyesanje Zone, Nabweru Sub-County.

Makanga Marvin (27), unemployed, from Kagoma, Maganjo.

Suuna Hamza Mutebi (30), a businessman from Mpererwe, Kampala District.

According to police reports, the suspects, armed with firearms, ambushed and robbed Tugume of a bag containing an unspecified amount of cash, a mobile phone, and banking devices.

“We appeal to the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of these suspects still on the run,” Owoyesigyire urged.

He provided the following contact numbers for tips: 0743343413, 0741111333, and 0786536296. Alternatively, reports can be made at the nearest police station.

The four arrested suspects have been remanded to Luzira Prison as investigations continue.
