Entebbe Airport staff remanded over theft

Yiga Isaac aged 25 a cleaner at Entebbe airport and resident of Nfuufu Zzana in Wakiso district, appeared before his worship Tibayeita Edgar, a senior magistrate at Entebbe court today and charged of theft.

Yiga was arrested by the aviation police on the 18 February this year after stealing a sum of 490,000= shillings from Akello Suzan.

According to sources, Yiga being a cleaner at the airport had got access to so many offices and this tempted him to steal a number of items like laptops, phones, money to mention but a few.

According to some of his workmates in other departments, Yiga has been engaging in such illegal acts for some good time not until aviation police arrested him.

He is now being charged on three counts of theft all done at the airport.

Before his worship today, Yiga denied the charges and has been sent to Kigo until 9 May.

This comes at a time when Vianney Luggya the Uganda Civil Aviation spokesperson cautioned passengers and everyone around the airport to be more vigilant saying that security at the airport is very tight and that anyone caught engaging in illegal acts would be held accountable.
