Kaisu Travis, a 5-year-old boy from Namugongo, Kira Municipality, Wakiso district is battling severe pain and life-threatening injuries after mistakenly drinking acid, thinking it was water.

His mother, Florence Kansiime, recounted the heartbreaking incident that occurred seven months ago. She said Travis had gone to a neighbor’s home in search of drinking water when he accidentally drank from a jerrycan containing acid. Moments later, she heard him screaming in pain. Rushing to his aid, Kansiime discovered that her son had ingested acid instead of water.
The neighbors, according to Kansiime, are involved in a business that uses small quantities of acid, and Travis was accustomed to playing in their compound.

Travis’s condition remains critical. He cannot eat solid food and currently survives on fluids administered through a tube. Doctors have advised that he urgently needs a complex and costly surgery to reconstruct his esophagus in order to sustain his life.

Kansiime, who has since abandoned her small business to care for her son full-time, is overwhelmed by the medical expenses and is appealing to well-wishers for financial support during this difficult time.
“I never imagined such pain for my child. I’m asking anyone out there to help us save Travis’s life,” she said, holding back tears. Florence Kansiime can be reached on 0702591253 and 0705537261 to give a helping hand
