Three suspected armed robbers were shot dead by police in the early hours of Sunday in Lungujja, Rubaga Division, a suburb of Kampala, following a foiled robbery attempt.

According to police, officers attached to Nateete Police Station were on routine patrol when they heard an alarm raised by a mobile money attendant who was under attack. The patrol team, led by the area Officer in Charge (OC), responded swiftly to the scene.
Speaking at a press briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said that upon confronting the suspects, one of them brandished a panga, prompting an officer to fire a warning shot. The suspects fled the scene, triggering a pursuit.

Two of the robbers were gunned down near the Stabex petrol station in Lungujja, while a third suspect was shot and later died from injuries en route to Mulago Hospital.
Police recovered several exhibits from the scene, including a bag containing over UGX 840,000, a set of house keys, a national ID belonging to the victim, and two motorcycles—one bearing registration number UGE 294X and the other without a number plate.
Kituuma commended the Nateete police officers for their quick response and professionalism, urging the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
