Uganda Police Offer UGX 50 Million Bounty for Entebbe Double Murder Suspect

By Robert Segawa

The Uganda Police Force has announced a UGX 50 million cash reward for any individual who can help identify and lead to the arrest of the suspect behind the double murder that occurred in Entebbe earlier this month.

The incident, which took place on July 6, 2025, claimed the lives of Mutaaga David and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga, who had recently returned from Switzerland. The couple was attacked and killed by unknown assailants at their home in Lugonjo-Nakiwogo, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.

During a press briefing held at Police Headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson SCP Rusoke Kituuma released CCTV footage of the suspect to journalists. He also played an audio recording in which the suspect is heard confronting the victims and accusing them of abandoning him and his family.

“We are doing everything within our means, in collaboration with all security agencies, to ensure this suspect is apprehended,” Kituuma said. “We shall not reveal the source of the footage for now, as it will serve as crucial evidence in court once the suspect is arrested.”

Kituuma appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to call the police tip line at MTN number 0769675918. He emphasized that a substantial reward awaits any informant who leads police to the suspect.

In a separate but related case, police have arrested a serving UPDF officer, a military deserter, and three other suspects linked to the murder of a Mukono-based NGO official last month.

The victim, identified as Rotarian Wayoengera Geoffrey, was the Director of Finance and Administration at Compassion International Uganda. He was kidnapped and killed on June 9, 2025, along Katosi Road in Mukono District while traveling from Mbale to Kampala with a colleague, Christine Najjabi. His body was later found dumped in Namumira Village, Mukono.

The suspects include Corporal Mugabe Bobani Asipa, a serving UPDF officer, and Sergeant Mwesige Mohammed alias “Jet Lee” or “Muna Makerere,” a military deserter. Both are residents of Kagugube-Makerere. They were arrested alongside three others: Tumusiime Ashiraf alias Obadia from Kireka, Ssenteza Michael from Wakiso, and Kasolo Fahad from Nabweru.

Kituuma said police recovered a SAR gun along with military and police uniforms during the arrests. Investigations reveal the group is part of a criminal gang that has been targeting traders along the Katosi Road corridor.
