Three children have died and three others are nursing injuries following a devastating house fire that broke out last night in Kirokole Zone, Kawempe Division, Kampala District.
The fire engulfed a single-room residential house occupied by six family members, four children and two adults belonging to Ssenyonga Gerald, a night-shift boda boda cyclist.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have originated from a charcoal stove that was in use while a motorcycle was parked inside the same room.
“Three female juveniles tragically lost their lives in the fire. Ssenyonga Gerald, his wife, and one child were rushed to Kiruddu Referral Hospital for treatment,” Onyango confirmed.

The police fire brigade responded quickly and managed to extinguish the flames, but not before the fire had completely destroyed the house and its contents.
Police officers were deployed to the scene to gather evidence. Statements were recorded from neighbors, and samples collected for forensic analysis. The bodies of the three deceased children have been taken to the City Mortuary at Mulago for postmortem examinations as investigations continue.
