City businessman Richard Kigozi, who is facing charges of criminal trespass in connection with the ongoing Katanga land dispute, has been remanded once again.

Kigozi appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Kanyanya in Kawempe Division, seeking a ruling on his bail application. However, the hearing was postponed as the trial Chief Magistrate, Ms. Roseline Nsenga, was unavailable due to attending a burial. The court informed Kigozi that the ruling would now be delivered on August 11, 2025, when the magistrate is expected to return.
The visibly anxious Kigozi is accused of illegally fencing and constructing on a section of land (Kibanja) located in Katanga Valley near Wandegeya. The disputed land reportedly belongs to city pastor Daniel Walugembe.

Three weeks prior, Kigozi had presented four individuals, including his wife Viola Caroline Nampebwa, as sureties while applying for bail, citing ill health. He was remanded pending the court’s decision on the matter.
In an earlier session, Magistrate Nsenga warned Kigozi’s relatives and friends against attempting to access her chambers, advising them instead to communicate through the accused’s legal counsel.
