Uganda’s Youth-Led Tech Movement Gains Momentum Amid Digital Transformation

By Peter Luzinda

Uganda is witnessing a powerful shift in its technological landscape, driven largely by a new generation of digital-savvy youth. From fintech to education and media, young innovators are using technology not only to solve local challenges but to position Uganda as a rising tech hub in East Africa.

In urban centers like Kampala and Jinja, tech hubs are growing rapidly, offering incubation, mentorship, and funding opportunities for startups. Applications addressing financial inclusion, e-commerce, e-health, and e-learning are increasingly developed by young Ugandans under 25.

“The pace at which youth are adopting and building with technology is unlike anything we’ve seen before,” says Irene Nabwire, a digital policy analyst. “They are not waiting for opportunities—they’re creating them.”
