Parliamentary diplomacy and strengthened bilateral cooperation were at the center of discussions today as Speaker of Parliament Anita Among hosted South Korea’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Park Sung-Soo, along with a delegation from the Korean National Assembly.

Speaker Among lauded South Korea for its continued support to Uganda, particularly in critical sectors such as health, education, water, and sanitation.

“We encourage you to remain good friends of Uganda,” Speaker Among said. “As we strengthen parliamentary and diplomatic cooperation between our countries, let us also work together to invest more in the health sector for sustainable development.”

In a move aimed at deepening diplomatic ties, Ambassador Park proposed that Uganda consider establishing an embassy in the Republic of Korea. Speaker Among welcomed the proposal and committed to fast-tracking discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Uganda and South Korea have maintained cordial diplomatic relations since 1963, with both nations seeking to expand their collaboration into new areas of mutual benefit.
