RPP’s Frank Kabinga Officially Nominated for 2026 Presidential Race, Vows to Deliver Federalism as Key to Uganda’s Future

By Kabuye Ronald
Mulira Frank Kabinga, the flag bearer for the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP), has today been officially nominated to contest in Uganda’s 2026 general elections, becoming the 8th presidential candidate to be duly nominated. Known for his strong advocacy for federalism and decentralized governance, Kabinga brings a bold agenda to the national stage.

Similar to Common Man’s Party (CMP) candidate Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa, Kabinga’s nomination came as a surprise after several days of struggling to gather the required 100 signatures from 98 districts. He eventually managed to meet the threshold at the last minute.

“We had a lot of challenges in collecting signatures, especially in the Busoga sub-region, where even my agent was arrested and over 100 signatures were taken away from him in Buyende District on orders from the Resident District Commissioner (RDC),” Kabinga revealed.

Speaking to the press after his nomination, Kabinga drew symbolic meaning from the heavy rainfall during the event.

“My nomination after a heavy downpour is a clear sign I may be the last to be nominated, but I will be the first in this race. In the next few months, Uganda will have a new president, and that person is none other than me,” he said confidently.

Kabinga emphasized that federalism is at the heart of his manifesto, claiming it is the ultimate solution to Uganda’s key challenges.

“Federalism is the solution to everything in Uganda, be it infrastructure, education, health, governance, or security,” he said.

He also announced plans for a significant legacy project in memory of the party’s founding president, the late Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi, who passed away last year in Canada. Kabinga pledged that the RPP will establish the Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi Memorial Building on a 10-acre piece of land in the Bunyoro sub-region. The facility will include a nursing home, a youth rehabilitation center, and a heart training institute.
