In a move set to reshape the relationship between Uganda’s entrepreneurial community and the media, Dr. Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, Chairman of the National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association (NETA), held a constructive and forward-looking meeting with Mr. Kabuye Ronald, Spokesperson of the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA).

The meeting took place at NETA’s head offices located in Yiga Chambers Building on Matia Mulumba Road in Old Kampala. During the engagement, the two leaders emphasized the critical role collaboration between traders and journalists plays in national development, economic empowerment, and responsible information dissemination.
Dr. Musoke reiterated NETA’s commitment to working closely with all stakeholders particularly journalists to ensure that entrepreneurs and traders across the country have a unified and amplified voice to tackle the challenges they face. “Journalists are not just messengers; they are key partners in advocacy, public awareness, and policy influence. That is why NETA is committed to building strong ties with UJA and other media stakeholders,” he said.

Kabuye praised the establishment of NETA, describing it as a timely platform for traders to organize and push for their rights, especially in today’s evolving economic landscape. He pledged UJA’s support in amplifying traders’ concerns, promoting transparency, and ensuring media coverage serves as a bridge between policymakers and the trading community.
The two leaders discussed NETA’s broad and inclusive mission, which aims to:
- Advocate for favorable trade policies
- Provide tax compliance education and support
- Facilitate access to finance and markets
- Offer capacity-building and consultancy services
- Promote trader security and welfare
- Mediate conflicts among traders
- Conduct market research
- Create platforms for dialogue with regulators and policymakers
Dr. Musoke revealed that the association, though newly formed, is already making significant impact, with a growing number of traders seeking assistance and guidance at their offices.
Both Musoke and Kabuye pledged mutual support and collaboration to ensure that the members of their respective organizations benefit from inclusive leadership, unbiased representation, rights advocacy, and both practical and psychological support.
As Uganda’s economy continues to recover and evolve, the collaboration between NETA and UJA promises to bring renewed hope and opportunity to thousands of traders and media professionals alike.
