The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has announced plans to tarmac two major roads passing through Amuria District — the Soroti–Amuria–Otuke Road and the Kumi–Ngora–Serere Road.

Addressing supporters during his campaign rally at Amuria Senior Secondary School, Gen. Museveni urged the people of Amuria to re-elect the NRM government based on its proven track record in infrastructure development and service delivery.

He commended the people of Amuria and the Arrow Boys for their significant contribution to peace and security in the region, acknowledging their role in supporting the UPDF during operations against rebel groups. Museveni reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling government pledges made to the Arrow Boys for their sacrifices toward restoring peace.

Highlighting education as a key priority, Gen. Museveni promised to increase the number of government primary and secondary schools in Amuria District, adding to the existing 68 primary schools. He also pledged to upgrade health facilities and construct new health centers in several sub-counties to improve access to medical services.

On water access, the NRM candidate assured residents that his government will expand water distribution coverage beyond the current 74%, ensuring that more households benefit from safe and clean water.
Gen. Museveni further emphasized the importance of wealth creation at both individual and household levels, distinguishing it from general development. He cited various Parish Development Model (PDM) success stories and encouraged residents to adopt these initiatives as tools for economic transformation.

As part of his broader wealth creation strategy, Museveni outlined plans for a new cattle restocking program targeting Amuria District and the greater Teso Sub-region, aimed at revitalizing the local livestock economy.
Meanwhile, First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni called on the people of Amuria to intensify grassroots mobilization to ensure a massive voter turnout in favor of the NRM on election day.
