The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has reaffirmed that the NRM government has built a robust governance system capable of addressing emerging national challenges. He urged the people of Serere District to re-elect him and the NRM for continuity and further progress.

Speaking during a presidential campaign rally at Serere District Headquarters, President Museveni outlined the NRM government’s achievements in ensuring national security, promoting development, and enhancing wealth creation—adding that these successes demonstrate the party’s ability to lead Uganda into greater prosperity.
President Museveni announced that, in his next term, the government will tarmac the Kumi–Ngora–Serere–Kagwara and Serere–Soroti roads. He noted that several tarmac roads already connect Serere District to neighboring areas and pledged to supplement them with additional road projects to further open up the region.

The NRM candidate committed to completing last-mile electricity connections in the two remaining sub-counties of Serere District that have not yet been electrified. He also confirmed ongoing progress in railway maintenance works and announced plans to expand water supply systems for both domestic and production use, aiming to raise coverage beyond the current 85 percent. Among the planned projects are the Agule Water System for livestock and the Kidetok Water System, among others.

President Museveni pledged to elevate several health facilities in Serere District, including the establishment of a District General Hospital. He said this will complement the existing network of health centers across the district to ensure accessible health services for all residents.
He also promised to add more government primary and secondary schools to the current 99 and 12, respectively, and called on residents to champion free universal education by resisting illegal charges imposed by some school administrators. He emphasized that effective free education will transform communities through improved literacy and social mobility.
Addressing issues of unemployment, President Museveni criticized opposition politicians for lacking a clear understanding of how jobs are created. He explained that sustainable employment stems from wealth creation in key sectors such as commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT.

He urged the people of Serere to adopt the NRM’s economic ideology and join the money economy through socio-economic empowerment initiatives. Citing successful examples like Joseph Ijala, a local poultry and cattle farmer earning over UGX 6.8 million daily, Museveni said this illustrates how embracing NRM’s message leads to tangible prosperity.
President Museveni revealed plans to implement a cattle restocking program and establish a massive fish-farming project in Serere and the greater Teso sub-region. He also pledged to scale up irrigation systems to boost agricultural productivity and household incomes.

The NRM National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Among, confirmed that funds are available for several development projects in Serere, including road tarmacking and the establishment of a District General Hospital. The NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Region, Calvin Echodu, also addressed several district development concerns.
Meanwhile, Serere District NRM Chairperson, Michael Olobo, presented a district status report highlighting major achievements under the NRM government and called for continued support to sustain these gains.
