Museveni Pledges to Tarmac Bubulo–Bududa Road, Boost Infrastructure and Development in Bududa District

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has confirmed government plans to tarmac the Bubulo–Bududa circular road as part of efforts to scale up economic and infrastructural development in the district.

General Museveni revealed that funds for the project have already been secured, and the process of identifying a suitable contractor is underway.

Addressing supporters during an NRM Presidential campaign rally at Bukigai Primary School playgrounds in Bududa District, President Museveni urged residents to vote for NRM legislators who understand the party ideology and embrace the principle of prioritization in development planning.

The NRM candidate emphasized that some leaders often fail to recognize the importance of prioritization, focusing instead on salary increments rather than long-term national development goals.

Museveni highlighted the NRM government’s achievements in expanding electricity distribution, road networks, telecommunication, and water services—key enablers of industrialization in the Bugisu Sub-region.

He pointed to the establishment of the Mbale Industrial Park as one of the successes arising from these infrastructural improvements, which have created thousands of jobs for people across Bugisu.

The NRM flag bearer reaffirmed government’s continued commitment to improving key sectors such as education and health in Bududa District. He noted that the NRM government has revolutionized the education sector both locally and nationally, contributing to improved literacy and skills development.

Residents of Bududa District also expressed appreciation for the Parish Development Model (PDM) initiative, recognizing it as a strategic wealth creation program. Government has so far disbursed UGX 48.8 billion to 47,647 beneficiaries in Bududa District, alongside UGX 2.2 billion under the Emyooga funds.

President Museveni promised to follow up on challenges affecting the PDM program and pledged to increase funding to include more sectors of the population.

He further guided residents on the NRM’s massive job creation strategy, which focuses on commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT. Museveni encouraged farmers to adopt the four-acre model and invest in commercially viable ventures to enhance household income and wealth creation.

The President also reiterated government’s commitment to revive free education in all government schools and strengthen the Presidential Skilling Initiative to empower youth with practical skills.

NRM’s Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Rt. Hon. Anita Among, also addressed the rally, highlighting the party’s development achievements in Bududa.

Bududa District NRM Chairperson Mukwana Wekhola Koloto presented a detailed district status report, reaffirming the NRM government’s ongoing commitment to the district’s transformation.
